After hard bargaining about the price of a return ticket for the boat from Krabi to Ko Lanta (I kept on asking why the return trip was more expensive than the outward journey and when they couldn't give me an answer and they got fed up with me, we finally got the right price), we arrived at the beach resort where my mom and Mariette were to spend their last few holidays. Because I'm not much of a beach boy, I tried to find a bicycle to explore the island but that appeared to be rather hopeless. A motorbike was all I could get because a bicycle would make me very tired and tiring themselves is something Asian people don't like to do - for this much I already know them... At night we wanted to go to Old Town but because of the usurious prices of the taxis we decided not to go. Instead we went to a restaurant at the beach and launched a lucky balloon. The next day the ladies stayed in the resort to enjoy a few massages while I took a snorkeling trip on a speedboat to the islands of Ko Ngai, Ko Cheuk, Ko Kradan (to which I certainly would like to return for a few days) and the Emerald Cave on Ko Mook. From the boat we jumped into the water and had to swim for 80 m through a cave to reach a wonderfully pretty lake surrounded by jungle. Unfortunately this place was packed with tourists which made this, together with the obligatory picture posing, a quite absurd event...
